Tux internal sound bank
From Tuxisalive
[edit] Overview
Tux's internal sound memory is used to store many short sounds that can be triggered by the standalone behavior (only way to play sounds when offline) or by the computer.
Why would you want to use the internal sound memory from an application running on the computer as you could send the sounds directly? Well, if we standardize the sound bank memory to associate each sound with a function like alarm, sleep, wake up, hello, etc. then we have a good way to personalize your tux's behavior. Just choose the sounds you want for each function and store them in tux. Then an alarm application that would use the internal alarm sound would use the sound you chose instead of a sound coming with the application.
Anybody could build its own sound bank and share it with the community. That way we could download an already available sound bank into tux easily.
If that seems useful afterwards, then we could expand that with a more complex sound library located on the computer. This one won't be available to the standalone behavior but could enhance the personalization of applications. Now each application can also provide its own sounds that you could also change. So this idea is maybe not that useful.
